Okay, my friend needed to know how to make it so only people she knows can AIM her. She said to explain it clearly, as if I was talking to someone who is using a computer for the first time. I thought it was amusing... so I wanted to post it somewhere....
Step one: Turn on your computer, by pressing the on button. If the computer does not light up within fifteen seconds, not to worry! All you have to do it press the "on" button on your moniter. This is usually located on the bottum of the right side.

Step twonce your computer is fully loaded, make sure "AIM" is already on your computer. You will see a little red icon on your computer that says "AIM" if you do not see that, ask your mother to load it for you. Now. Double click (click with the left button twice, somewhat quickly) the AIM icon. Hint: the icon is red.

Step three: Once AIM has loaded, you will see a skinny window on the right side of your computer screen. Remember, it is on the screen, not on your printer. Click the "edit" button on the AIM window. Make sure you click the one on the AIM window. The skinny one, in the right corner. The "Edit" button is located right next the the "File" button on the top left of the AIM window.

Step four: Good job! You have gotten this far! Take a deep breath, and go to step five!


Step Five: You should still be at the "Edit" tab. If you are not, repeat step three. Go to the very bottom the the tab, and press "Settings" Hint: You may have to wait for it to load.

Step Six: There is a line of tabs on the left side of the window that has just opened. Only pay attention to that for now, do not get distracted by the stuff on the rest of the window.

Step Seven: Go to the very bottom tab. It should say "Style," do not click this tab. Now go to the one right above it. This should say "Privacy" click on this one.

Step Eight: Now that you are here, at the top of the window, it should say "Privacy" under that are the words that say "Who can contact me:" There are three little checkboxes under this. These are your options. They should say:
"Allow all users to contacts me"
Do not click this one

"Allow only the users on my Buddy List"
Make sure you click this one, otherwise this whole thing will be pointless.

"Allow only the people below to contact me"
Ignore this. You are done.

Step Nine: Go to the bottom of the window and press "Apply" then you may close the window by going to the top right corner of it, and pressing "x"
Now you should have no more problems.
